OurCivic is a Tamil Nadu-first civic participation platform. Citizens report recurring public issues, support priorities during a monthly cycle, and follow selected Missions of the Month through expert review, authority follow-up, and community verification.
Our story
The road that has been broken for three years. The drain that overflows every monsoon. The streetlight that has not worked since anyone can remember. The garbage pile that keeps growing at the corner no one seems to own.
We talk about these problems at tea shops and dinner tables. We share photos, forward messages, and say, “Someone should do something.” Then we wait for the complaint to reach the right person and hope it is not forgotten.
What if the “someone” the system is waiting for is all of us, acting together?
OurCivic began with a simple conviction: the people who live with a public problem every day are the most qualified to surface it. When citizens document the same issue, support a shared priority, and keep its progress visible, it becomes harder for that problem to disappear into a queue.
A citizen report can join other reports to reveal a public pattern. The community can decide what matters most. Experts can put a practical recommendation on the table. Authorities can respond in public, and citizens can verify whether the work actually solved the problem.
This is about what we leave behind.
Every broken footpath our children walk on, every contaminated tap they drink from, and every unlit street they cross becomes part of the place we pass on. We can keep accepting that this is simply how things are, or we can create a public record that helps communities change them.

Donors and funding partners cannot buy public ranking. Expert recommendations do not replace government authority. OurCivic does not promise that every reported issue will be selected or resolved.
